I’m spending today getting organized.
I’m spending today getting organized. So I’m going to describe all the little pieces of software that I use (most of them free) and show you where to get them.
One thing that’s really been a bother lately has been all the instant messaging (IM) programs I have to use to keep in contact with people. I don’t like having to keep all these interfaces open simultaneously?
I’ve just tried out Trillion and it seems to do the trick. Now I have ICQ, AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and IRC all in a single interface.
Now I can chat with all my “buddies” no matter which IM service they choose to use.

My Desk is also cluttered with paperwork so I’m spending today clearing it. I’m really bad about writing notes onto pieces of paper then leaving them on my desk. These are little slips of paper that I can’t throw away, yet I have no place to file them. So what I do is type them into InfoSelect. This program is great. I can organize my notes inside the program then do an instant search. All I have to do is remember one word in the note and I can find it within seconds. It’s hard to explain, just download the trial version and you’ll be in love with it. This product has won so many awards, I’m surprised it’s not better known.

For the documents that I can’t just type in and have to scan I use PaperMaster Pro. I can scan them into my computers “filing cabinet” then view or print them whenever I want.
Here’s the website:

I also sometimes use Adobe Acrobat to scan documents into a PDF file then just store them raw on my hardrive. I do this if its documents that I need to send to someone. I rarely fax anymore. I just scan and email. It’s more secure since you don’t know who will be on the receiving end of a fax machine.
Those are some of my tips for getting organized.
